CDN Data Transfer
Net Origin CDN hosting plans allow you to transfer your data over two different platforms. These platforms are optimized for different file types, and file sizes.
- Large File Platform – This platform has been optimised to cache large files, which allows it to quickly deliver them to your customers. Typical applications include the delivery of videos, high resolution images, audio content and software downloads.
- Small File Platform – This platform has been optimised to index small and more frequently used files for quicker retrieval and delivery. Typical applications include the delivery of thumbnail image assets, CSS, JS and HTML.
The use of these platforms is not mutually exclusive. In fact, we encourage customers to use a mix of these platforms to serve your websites content in order to develop an optimal configuration.
CDN Storage
All CDN Hosting plans give you the option of serving your content from either your own web server (i.e, customer origin server) or on a storage server in the CDN network (i.e., CDN Origin Server).
- Customer Origin Server – The main advantage of using your own web server is that you do not have to transfer your data to another server. This allows you to keep all of your data in its current structure.
- CDN Origin Server – The main advantage of using the CDN network to store your data is that your data in no longer susceptible to network issues due to DDoS attacks or high traffic volume. This guarantees that your data will be available to be delivered to your websites visitors at all times.
The use of the CDN Origin Server and your own web server is also not mutually exclusive. You can use a mixture of both storage options with your CDN Hosting plan.
You can purchase additional CDN Origin Server storage at anytime for $1.00/GB per month.
